Albertha Stenzel

The Funeral Service for Albertha W. Stenzel of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church. Albertha died on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. She was 82. She was born on March 18, 1929, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Paul and Marie VanHouten. The family moved to Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. She married Phillip Stenzel in Minnesota Lake, and they had made their home in Albert Lea since 1960. She had worked for Banquet Foods in Wells for more than 20 years, and had also been a hairdresser. Albertha was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, and the Elks and Eagles Auxiliaries. She liked baking and cooking and especially enjoyed the company of family and friends.
She is survived by six children: Michael (Janis) Stenzel of Mpls, MN, Duane Stenzel of Mpls, MN, Kathy (Rod) Weise of Elko, MN, Marilyn (Rodney) Tenold of Albert Lea, Jeffrey Stenzel of Winona, MN, Cynthia (Richard) Hoppe of Windsor, CO., grandchildren: Traci (Rick) Hakanson, Shawn (Angela) Weise, Jason (Casy) Weise, Nathan (Shannon) Tenold, Anthony Tenold, Rickki (Kaori) Stenzel, Danielle Hoppe, Dustin Hoppe; great grandchildren: Tyler, R.J. Randy, Nicole, Stephanie, Avary, Beau, Jaxon and Erika; brother Marvin (Eileen) VanHouten of Demont, IN, and sister-in-law Stella VanHouten also of Demont, IN, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phillip, her sister Hermina Pougher and brother William VanHouten. Memorials suggested to Crossroads Community Hospice. Blessed be her Memory
