Larry Christensen

Funeral Services for Larry M. Christensen, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.  The Reverend Eileen Woyen and Reverend George Marin will officiate.Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-7 on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.

Larry died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  He was 72.

He was born on September 26, 1946, in Albert Lea, the son of Earl and Lylith (Hillman) Christensen.He married Judy Christian on September 1, 1967 at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa. Larry spent a lifetime farming and also worked at Wilson Foods and Ag Power. Ag Power was more than a job to him, where coworkers became an extension of family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had been confirmed, served as an usher and was a leader of the Stephan Ministry.Family, friends, faith and farming were the foundation of his life. Larry was a “man of the land” and thoroughly enjoyed nature. He impacted many lives without even knowing it. He was “one of a kind”, very grateful for what he had, was very giving, and was always paying it forward.

Larry will be greatly missed by his family, wife Judy, son Travis (Deb) Christensen of Albert Lea, daughter Sheri(Robert) Kokot of Hayward, MN, grandchildren: Ariel Christensen(Nolan Hodapp), with a blessing(great grandson)  on the way, of Rosemount, MN,  Alex Christensen (Brandon Neal) of Albert Lea, Zoe, Sydney, Betsy Kokot of Hayward, MN; sisters and brother: Pauline (Lowell) Millhouse, Lois Christensen, Lori Stenseth, Roger (Deb) Christensen of Albert Lea, Cheryl Wangsness (Tom Waldemar) of Rochester, MN, Wendy and (Gary) Simonsen of Rochester; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Victoria (Fred Ostrowski) Hanson of Otsego, MN, Mike and Marlene Christian of Northwood, IA, Kurt Christian of Albert Lea, Mark and Sharon Christian of Albert Lea, Michael Haskins of Albert Lea a several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lylith Christensen, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Mervil and Betty Christian and sister-in-law Nancy Jo Haskins.

In lieu for flowers, memorials suggested to a fundraiser for cancer, near and dear to our hearts.
